Rise, Sir David: Football Legend Honoured by the Monarch at Windsor Castle Investiture
The football icon received a honorary title at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The former England captain, fifty, was among those receiving awards for his contributions to sport and philanthropy. Earlier this year, he stated he was “extremely honored” of being acknowledged in the monarch's annual honors list.
Soccer Achievements
Beckham first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was a key member that earned a dramatic Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat the German giants with two late goals.
In total, he scored eighty-five scores and garnered accolades including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before ending his playing career in 2013. Alongside his football career, he has backed a number of charity causes, including acting as a goodwill ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005.

Philanthropy and Beyond
In the previous year, Beckham, who has referred to himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was appointed an official representative for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity founded by the King in 1990. In 1998 he was named top fashion icon by a leading publication and he has posed for brands like the fashion retailer, the Italian designer, and Boss.
Beckham tied the knot with Victoria in 1999 and the couple have four children together – their eldest, Romeo, Cruz, and their daughter.
