Check out Twenty-Nine Fresh Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Featuring a Commander Deck!)

Everyone's favorite pizza-loving superheroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The popular trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration during a special panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Could this be a radical new set or simply another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.

Check out below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including some useful context. All items listed below releases on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27th.

MTG x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before diving into the many special decks and collections on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per pack.

Let's unpack a few shell-shocking details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu, in which players can play powerful creatures onto the game field whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can apply to non-creature spells as well. The designers also used this chance to refine the ability a little (Sneak is treated as casting, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions moving forward.

Should we go back to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability because that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” a senior designer explained. “But on other planes, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be in standard, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with unique artwork created exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. But as per the developers, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.

Anyway, below are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from this set:

As per Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers state they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics meshed well with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to make sure that there's synergy with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy focused on artifact cards.

“They combine to provide the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he added.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power!

Following a decision to design any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area rather than only one). Check them out below:

This Commander deck is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on demand. Sources indicated that it contains 43 new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprints if we assume the deck includes 37 land cards.)

What will the Turtles version of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and see.

TMNT Bundle (Regular)

Typically, Wizards is offering a collection. This one is priced at $69.99 and contains the listed items:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • 15 Traditional foil land cards
  • 15 Regular land cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Traditional foil promo card
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • 1 storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the following:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • 1 Collector Booster
  • Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
  • 5 Traditional foil pizza basic lands
  • Two Foil Pizza Bundle promo cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Large life tracker
  • 1 storage box

If you’re wondering what a “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with all-new TMNT artwork. Wizards showed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. There are six different pizza promos available.

This special bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This unique product is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:

  • 12 Standard Boosters (ideal for a group of four to draft)
  • 1 Premium Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
  • 90 Regular land cards (for building your deck)
  • Ten Non-foil token cards
  • One drafting guide (a single-page instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)

Turtle Team-Up

Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to develop Magic products specifically for beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that let you and a friend team up to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.

The concept is that each Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
